For the past few years, the Payette Land Trust has been partnering with landowners adjacent to a 44-acre riverfront property in an effort to conserve the space as a biological corridor and limited public access site.
The 44-acre lot, located along the North Fork of the Payette River south-west of McCall, would provide:
Recently, the property was purchased by two conservation-minded individuals who are working with the PLT to place conservation easements that consider the property’s importance to the watershed, ecology and outdoor recreation. After the conservation easements are placed, the property will be sold to a 501c(3) called the Payette Riverwalk Alliance (PRA). The PRA was created with the purpose of owning and managing riverfront property for habitat, wildlife and limited public access.
The goal is to pursue a community-wide funding effort between local homeowners, interested agencies and conservation organizations. If successful, this would ensure non-development of the riverfront and solidify future wildlife habitat and recreational access to the river corridor.
